Quantifiers
Quantifiers tell us about the quantity or amount of something. Quantifiers let us talk about the amount of something without needing numbers.
I have 3 apples.
I have a few apples.
Quantifiers are always used with a noun. We use different quantifiers with countable and uncountable nouns.
Common Quantifiers
There are many different quantifiers. Some can be used with countable nouns, some can be used with uncountable nouns, and some can be used with both types of nouns.
Common Quantifiers Used with Countable and Uncountable Nouns
These quantifiers can be used with all nouns:
- some
- any
- a lot
- lots
- most
- all
- none
- enough
Common Quantifiers Used with Countable Nouns
These quantifiers can only be used with a countable noun:
- many
- a few
- fewer
- every
- a couple
Common Quantifiers Used with Uncountable Nouns
These quantifiers can only be used with an uncountable noun:
- much
- a little
- less
